cpd25 Meeting of the Career Development Task Group. 3rd November 2006, University of Westminster, 11am. Present: David Gee (chair), Vivien Robertson, Liz Annetts, Sarah Jackson, Antony Loveland, Diana Herman, Dave Puplett (administrator) 1. Apologies: None. 2. Group Membership Kelly Travers from UEL will be joining the group in March 2007 in time for planning the 07/08 session. The group is one of the smallest, yet still produces a large number of events, therefore it was agreed it could also add another more senior member if an appropriate person shows interest. 3. Seminars 06/07: Applying to LIS: Antony was present for the start, Sarah and Dave present all day. Bookings were excellent, at over 50 people. CILIP changed speakers at the last minute, which caused some disruption to the programme, but the other speakers were flexible which allowed the day to run smoothly. The full day format worked very well, with more opportunities for discussion and questions. The feedback was very positive. Vanda Broughton came in for the most praise, and several people suggested including a session on Distance Learning. The venue (43 Gordon Sq, Birkbeck)was also successful, so next year's event will follow the same template. We could approach library schools direct for student speakers, especially for the distance learning slot. Development Day: November 23rd, Senate House. Nearly 20 bookings made now, but not the heavy demand we had last year. A repeat will probably be unnecessary. Mentoring: 16th January, SOAS Room B202. Repeat of successful session from last year. SDO Session: To be held at KCL in the Council Room, potentially in the weeks beginning 19th and 26th March. Format will be different, featuring one key speaker and then group sessions for exchange of experience / problem solving on particular topics of common staff development issues. The product of these sessions could then be collated and fed back to the whole group. The event will be followed as usual by lunch and the cpd25 review session. Kingston to be approached as possible source of a speaker. 4. Chartership 06/07: 1 - 11 Oct: Introduction - Extended to include talk on cpd25 Exchange Scheme, running 3-5pm. (Antony) This event took place successfully, Michael Martin from CILIP spoke. 2 - Nov: Portfolio - with Cheney Gardner (Antony) 3 - Dec: Collection Development - Electronic Resources. (Vivien) 4 - Jan: Developing a service - Graham Bulpitt (Antony) 5 - Feb: Supervisory Skills - J. Cattermole. (David) 6 - March: Mid series discussion forum, RLO's Franko and Angela.
