Exchange Scheme Launched

The cpd25 Work Exchange Scheme for CILIP Chartership Candidates – a new staff development initiative from cpd25!

cpd25 is very pleased to announce the launch of a brand new work exchange scheme aimed at CILIP Chartership candidates working in member libraries of the M25 Consortium. The new scheme will give candidates the rare opportunity to:

  • Gain new insights and wider professional experience.
  • Experience the working environment in a different type of library.
  • Reflect on what they have learnt and experienced.

Through the new section on our recently re-designed website, cpd25 will act as a clearing house for CILIP Chartership candidates who are seeking a work exchange placement (normally ten working days as a minimum). Work placements will consist mainly of work shadowing and discussions with other staff, but could also include some new training. We will launch the scheme to Chartership candidates at the first session on the cpd25 Chartership series, on October 11th, and with electronic publicity direct to Staff Development Officers.

Benefits for candidates, Staff Development Officers and M25 libraries

  • Valuable and relevant professional experience that can be included in their CILIP Chartership portfolios and used to develop and improve their own library work practices.
  • Staff Development Officers will have the opportunity to network with the training staff in other academic libraries and gain useful professional experience and skills in negotiating and organising the content of exchange placements.
  • M25 member libraries will benefit from a better trained and more motivated workforce and will have the chance to exchange best practice working methods and ideas on different ways of working.

For all the information you need and to request an application form, please check out the new special section on the CPD25 website at: www.cpd25.ac.uk/exchange. The list of participating institutions will populate as soon as we receive the first application forms!
