CPD25: Training and development for HE libraries in the London Region CHAIR: Jean Yeoh, ISS Corporate Services, King’s College London Minutes of the Operations Task Group held on 14th October 2005 University of Westminster 10am Present: Carole Pickaver (chair), Catherine Philpotts, Martin Carbonell, Caroline Fletcher, Dave Puplett (administrator) 1. Apologies Apologies were received from Kate Burke, Babs Viejo, Rosarie Coughlan Susan Gilbert and Pete Ryan. Zoe Smith has left the group, temporarily replaced by Pete Ryan from Canterbury Christ Church. 2. Minutes of last meeting – 20th July 2005 The minutes were accepted as an accurate record. 3. Matters Arising None 4. Programme 05/06 Space Management: Will take place late Jan /early Feb. Room at Anglia Ruskin to be used. Speaker arranged from University of Lincolnshire, with a focus on managing a building. Focus Groups: Half day event. No clash with M25 events, to be held week beginning 24th April 2006. Self Issue: To be held week beginning 27th February 2006. Partnerships / Mergers / Collaborations: umbrella event This would form a 2 day umbrella event, potentially for about 30/40 delegates. Name to be changed from ‘Umbrella’ to avoid confusion. Carole to contact Medway about speaker and to start to draw up a table of potential component seminars. Catherine and Martin to pursue possible contacts. The sessions are likely to be about 45 minutes long, with 20 minutes for the speaker and the remaining time for discussion, to be guided by the speaker. Dave to investigate venues once scope has been established. To be held provisionally on the 27/28th June 2006. Visits: Natural History Museum – held over to 2006/07 Sutton public library – Dave has passed on contact details to Martin who will pursue. Dave to attend one visit, Martin a second and if a third is needed Caroline will attend. 5. Any other business: The group made use of the opportunity to discuss a few issues with their own libraries, drawing on the groups collective experience. Dave gave a quick update on the new M25/cpd25 website and the events calendar for 2005/6 6. Next Meeting: Friday 17th Feb 10am University of Westminster, Dave to book room.
