3. Matters arising not covered on the agenda

4. Update on 2009/10 events being planned

4.1 Collection Development

CP reported that this event was almost ready. The programme just needed to be finalised and a suitable venue booked, and then the event can be advertised.

4.2 Customer Service in the Commercial Sector

MC reported that he has made contact with two external organisations and is waiting to hear back from them.

4.3 Library Access for non-traditional learners

YD was unable to be at the meeting, so it wasn’t possible to get an update on this event.

4.4 Working Patterns

YD was unable to be at the meeting, so it wasn’t possible to get an update on this event, however CF is assisting with it and was able to confirm that she had contacted the Task Group 2 organisers who are hoping to run an event on employment law, to confirm that there is no overlap.

4.5 Copyright

AD confirmed that he will be talking to the Task Group 2 organisers who are hoping to run an event on copyright, to confirm that whilst they will be looking at the legal side of this topic he will be concentrating on the operational side of things.

4.6 24/7

MC told the group that work on the film is progressing well and that it should be completed by late January.

CF reported her initial findings to the group regarding what she had been able to find out about the previous 24/7 event that cpd25 ran in 2005, including the fact that 90 people attended the whole day event. A detailed discussion took place regarding possible content, with a huge amount of material/topics to choose from, plus possible speakers. It was agreed that the emphasis should be more on individual speakers and only one workshop session should be run. It was agreed that a grand venue would be required for this event.

4.7 Business Process re-engineering

CP reported that investigation into this future event was going well.

4.8 Digitising Collections

MC reported that he was progressing slowly with this event as it was proving difficult to make contact with the relevant people.

4.9 Visit to NMRC

CP reported that she had not had time to organise this yet but will try to book the visit very soon.

4.10 Visit to SOAS

YD will investigate this when she is able to.

4.11 Visit to Imperial War Museum Library

It was reported that this visit will not be able to take place until 2011 due to refurbishment work.

4.12 Any other visits/events

It was agreed that the group would think about managing building projects as a possible event, but would hold this in reserve for the moment until the main events for 2009-10 are organised.
