Operations Management Task Group Meeting
24th May 2006, 10am Senate House Library.

Present: Carole Pickaver (chair), Roddie Shepherd, Rose Coughlan, Caroline Fletcher, Catherine Phillpotts, Emma Wilson, Martin Carbonell, Kate Burke, Dave Puplett (administrator)

1. Apologies:

2. Minutes of previous meeting:
Accepted as accurate record.

3. Seminars 05/06:
Focus Groups:

Took place on 25th April at Brunei Gallery, with 21 delegates. Speakers were Peter Goodwin, Penny Dade from Middlesex and Val Skelton from tfpl.

Planned by Susan and Caroline, with liason with M25 group.

The session was very well received, and a repeat/update session would be likely to be very popular.

Only downside on the day was the fauly power socket which claimed the life of the laptop battery just at the start of Penny's session. Caroline arranged a replacement laptop from Birkbeck very quickly though, and the negative effect on the afternoon was minimal.

Self Service:
Postponed now until the 25th July. To be held at Middlesex University, Hendon Campus. This will allow demostration of the machines installed there, which are being upgraded just before the our visit. 
Caroline is eager to get a speaker from the London College of Communication, who have been initially reluctant on the grounds that their installation hasn't been entirely successful. Penny Dade could be a useful contact to chase them.
Possible alternatives include someone from UEA (contact via Roddie), London Met (via Kate)

Judith Cattermole will chair the event. 

Mergers Conference:
This event has been advertised to the M25 SDO list. Dave to send out to Directors and then externally within the week.

Catering to be varied over the two days.

Task group members to confirm final details of presentations and titles with speakers, and ask for any presentations to be sent to Dave by 21st June.

Task group members have been allocated sessions to transcribe - updated on the website by Dave - and asked to compile a report on these in the weeks after the conference.

4. Visits 05/06:
Sutton Public Library.
The first of two visits has taken place, with Martin leading the group. The second takes place this week with Dave attending.
Both are fully booked.

6. AOB / Next Meeting:

The next meeting will be held in the week beginning 23rd October.
A social gathering will be arranged for the week beginning 4th December. Pizza Paradiso a likely venue.
