Minutes of the Personal Effectiveness & Management Task Group Held on 14th October 2004 at 3pm University of Westminster Present: Judith Cattermole (Chair), Val Straw, Elaine Salter, Donald Lickley Jacky Camroux, David Ward, & Caroline Holebrook (administrator) 1. Apologies Apologies had been received from Maggie Fieldhouse, Sara Burnett & David McGrath 2. Minutes of the last meeting – 16th June 2004 The minutes were accepted as an accurate record 3. Matters arising There were no matters arising that were not included on the agenda. 4. Programme 2004/2005 • Coping at the Counter Sheila Ritchie is running these sessions on the 11th November 2004 & 10th March 2005 at Senate House Library. The first session is already fully booked. • New Managers & Senior Managers Skills Workshops Both these events will be advertised shortly. Caroline is waiting for Beryl to confirm the course content, which is expected by end of October. Action: Caroline to advertise as soon as possible. • Emotional Intelligence Ash Charlton will run this event at Royal Holloway, Bedford Square on the 12th May 2005 Action: Caroline to advertise • Breakfast Briefing – Leadership Donald has been in contact with the Leadership Trust and is awaiting their response. The group hopes to run the event in March 2005 Action: Donald to liaise with Caroline to organise venues, budgets and dates. • Workload Management & Good Working Habits This event has been split into two sessions; Professionals – aimed at Librarians with some managerial responsibility – 26th November 2004 – Fully Booked and Para-Professionals – aimed at Library and Information assistants and non-qualified staff – 4th November 2004 – Few places remaining. The two sessions are being delivered by Levelheaded at their Docklands premises on behalf of CPD25 • Influencing skills/people Ash Charlton will run this event on the 28th February 2005. Venue to be confirmed. Action: Caroline to confirm venue and advertise. • Wellbeing at Work Jacky is attending a similar event at LCC shortly and will decide if it is appropriate for the programme. Action: Jacky to feedback to Caroline regarding the possibility of running an event • Managing Part time & Contract Staff Hudson Rivers have been approached to deliver this event. A title reflecting the focus of the event accurately needs to be clarified. Action: Judith will contact Hudson Rivers • 24/7 Conference This event will be held at Etc Venues, Hatton Centre on the 26th April 2005. The event hopes to attract about 100 delegates. Caroline has just advertised the event and at time of writing 20 bookings had been made. Visits • National Art Library, Victoria & Albert Museum This visit is confirmed for the 23rd May 2005 • National Archive Caroline will confirm a date for this visit shortly Action: Caroline to confirm 7. Any other business Donald reported that King's College London has had its first Staff Development Conference. Peter White (Radio 4 broadcaster) was the key note speaker. The event was so successful that Donald had been nominated to run it again next year. 8.
