Minutes of the Personal Effectiveness & Management Task Group Held on 16th June 2004 at 3pm University of Westminster Present: Judith Cattermole (Chair), Val Straw, Elaine Salter, Donald Lickley Jacky Camroux, David Ward, Sara Burnett & Caroline Holebrook (administrator) 1. Apologies Apologies had been received from Maggie Fieldhouse David McGrath & Rosemary Moon did not attend. 2. Minutes of the last meeting – 21st January 2004 The minutes were accepted as an accurate record 3. Matters arising There were no matters arising that were not included on the agenda. 4. Welcome to new members Judith welcomed Sara Burnett from Kingston University to the group. 5. Programme 2003/2004 Seminars • New Managers & Senior Managers Skills Workshops Elaine was able to report that both these series were very successful. Both programmes were oversubscribed. The feedback had been extremely positive with a few suggestions for minor improvements or adjustments. 6. Programme 2004/2005 Core Events • Coping at the Counter As this event had been so popular in the previous programme the group felt it was an essential session to run again. In the first instance the group felt a session in the second or third week in November 2004 followed by another session in March 2005. Sheila Ritchie will be approached to run these sessions again by Jacky Camroux • New Managers & Senior Managers Skills Workshops The group agreed that these workshops formed a crucial part of the programme. Hudson Rivers have already agreed to run these series again. • Emotional Intelligence This event was so oversubscribed that the group felt it was important to run it again as it’s clearly an area that the sector is interested in. The group felt May would be an appropriate time to run this event. Caroline will contact Ash Charlton • Breakfast Briefing – Leadership In order to meet the needs of Senior Managers the group felt a Breakfast Briefing on Leadership styles would be the most appropriate format. Donald suggested the Leadership Trust as an organisation that could provide this level of briefing. Donald will contact the Leadership Trust New Events • Workload Management & Good Working Habits Val will lead on this event to be held in November 2004 • Influencing skills/people David W will lead on this event to be held in February 2005 • Wellbeing at Work This event will rely on the feed back from Jacky’s event at the College of Communication. If the event is successful the group will follow it up with an event in December 2004 • Managing Part time & Contract Staff Judith suggested Hudson Rivers for this event in March 2005 • “Big Idea�? - 24/7 Conference David W & Sara will lead on this event with support from the rest of the group.
