held on Tuesday 18th June 2002 at 10.00a.m. in the Committee Room, Main
Building, University College London.

1. Apologies
Apologies had been received from Rosemary Moon and David Ward.
2. Introduction
Judith Cattermole welcomed members to the first formal meeting of the task group and asked people to introduce themselves.
3. Feedback from CPD25 Steering Group
Judith Cattermole informed members that at the last meeting of the
Steering Group it had been agreed that the Forum would become and
annual one-day event. This would be the time for people to change the
task group of which they were a member and for new members to join.
She further reported that a target of 5-6 events and 2 visits per task group for the 2002/3 session had been agreed upon.
There had been some discussion on the Management Skills
Programme and the Steering Group had agreed that it might be necessary
to make some changes to the format of this event to re-vitalise it.
It was noted that the Career Development task group would be
offering a number of courses in parallel to this group aimed at
Chartership candidates. It was agreed that the publicity should
emphasise the target audience.
4. Events Programme 2002/3
a) Change Management for Senior Staff
It was agreed that a half-day event should be arranged for the last
week of October or first week of November. Suggested speakers were Anne
Bell (King's College) and Mary Auckland (London Institute). Jacky
Camroux would be the organiser for this event.
b) Management Skills Programme
After some discussion it was agreed that the 2002/3 event should be
altered in terms of timing. It was agreed to approach Hudson Rivers to
ask for 3 weeks in January or February where the event could be held on
the same day for 3 weeks. In 2003/4 it was suggested that a revised
course for middle managers should be run instead of the usual course
for junior managers. Elaine Salter would be the organiser of this event
c) Training for Trainers.
It
was agreed that a full day event would be organised in late February.
The morning would concentrate on training needs analysis and the
afternoon on evaluating training courses. Suggested speakers included
Anne McIlwaine (SOAS) and Mark Lefco. Judith Cattermole and Val Straw
would organise this event.
d) Managing Attendance
It was
agreed that this one-day course should be held in early April. The
course would include dealing with lateness, sickness and annual leave.
David McGrath agreed to organise this event
e) Time Management.
This whole
day course, to be held in late June, would be aimed at all levels of
staff. It would include stress management, managing your diary and
in-tray management. It was suggested that the company Level Headed were
potential speakers. Judith Cattermole agreed to approach David Ward and
Rosemary Moon to organise this event.
5. Visits 2002/3
a) New Guardian Archive
It
was agreed that following the success of this year's visit to the
Guardian Library and the opening of the Guardian's new archive, Val
Straw would organise visits in December to the archive.
b) Tate Britain Information Service
Jacky Camroux agreed to organise this event for May. If this was not
possible she would try the Imperial War Museum and the National Arts
Library at the Victoria & Albert Museum, both of whom had recently
joined the M25-Consortium.
6. Any Other Business
There was no other business.
7. Dates of Future Meetings
The next meeting would be held at 10.00 am on Wednesday 24th July 2002
in the Committee Room, UCL. In future it was likely that only one Task
Group meeting would be needed per term.
