3. Matters arising
Sally Field from University of Sussex has taken over Maggie Fieldhouse’s cpd25 role.
Beverley asked whether cpd25 have a proper cancellation policy to present to paid speakers when arranging their services.
ACTION – Dave to add to Steering Group Agenda

4. Programme 2004/2005
In summary, the 04/05 programme was very successful, with a broad range of events covering the remit of the group. All planned events were carried out, and all aims were met.
The conference was noted as a significant success, and sets a benchmark for future large cpd25 events. This is a scale of event that could be repeated again, perhaps on alternate years.
Judith extended her thanks to all involved in planning and executing such a successful programme.

5. Programme 2005/06
Mangers series in general to be reviewed for 06/07, to clarify the difference between Senior and Middle managers, and to ensure we are targeting the right audience in our publicity.

Middle Managers –
Beverley reports that speakers have been booked for all three session. Dave has booked King’s College for the first session, will get rooms for the following two once bookings have completed. Good levels of bookings received so far. This series may not break even, Dave assures the group that the surplus from the 24/7 conference gives this group plenty of financial space.

New Managers –
Elaine reported that dates for all three sessions are booked.

Coping at the Counter –
Jacky reported that venue, speaker and date have all been booked. Dave to advertise in due course.

Rewarding Staff –
Val has a contact at LSE who would be able to lead the session. To be held at LSE, from 9.30-10.30. Designed for low cost, with a discursive nature over coffee and croissants.

Effective meetings –
ACTION – Dave to contact Jo about her progress.

Statistics (making your case with) – Donald.
No date fixed yet, Donald reported previously to Dave that he was
working on speakers.

Negotiation - Judith
Could use Ash Charlton again.
ACTION – Dave to forward Ash’s details to Judith.

Breakfast Briefing – Mapping Competencies –
Jacky reported that Donald has a name in mind, and that she has a contact at the British Library that could be pursued.

Emotional Intelligence –
This popular event could be run again in March, as long as there is no overlap with Negotiation Skills.
ACTION – Judith to investigate.

Visits:
Brighton Jubilee –
This visit now to be organised by Sally Faith, replacing Maggie.

Prison Library – Val.
Dave has a contact in HMP Bronzefield who has already agreed to two visits for 5 people.
Val has contacted a CILIP prison librarians group, so more than one location could be visited.
Unknown location – Sara to be offered opportunity to arrange an extra visit.

6. Any other business

Dave gave a brief update on administrative procedures for cpd25, including discussion on how best to allocate places for visits.
Discussion also took place about potential future cpd25 events on the theme of Dealing with Diversity, and the issues surrounding for staff / student communication and relations. Beverley and Val both offered potential contacts in this field should the project be pursued.

7. Date of next meeting
Thursday 23rd Feb 3pm, at Westminster.
Action: Dave to book room
DP 23 Sept. 05
