4. Programme Planning 2008-9:
4.1 Coping at the Counter
The feedback for the previous event has been done by Jackie.
4.2 New Manager Series
Beryl has still to be contacted re the event, so dates still to be set. It was thought that the Brunei Gallery at SOAS would be a suitable venue, however. The 14th and 19th of January, and the 25th of February were mentioned as the only dates so far that should be avoided.
4.3 Emotional intelligence
Judith has contacted Ash Charlton and a provisional date has been arranged: 11th June, venue London Mathematical Society.
4.4 De Montford Exchange of Experience
Claire will get back to us with details of the trainer. No date has been arranged, though it will definitely be in the new year sometime – possibly in the spring. The event will be aimed at all levels – librarians, library assistants etc.
4.5 Managing budgets
Sally is continuing to look into this event.
4.6 Effective meetings
Val is still to work with Donald to organise this event. It was suggested that at the time of booking delegates might be requested to suggest preferences for groups and subjects. With regards for a date for this event, Suzy suggested avoiding late November. As early November would be too soon, it was suggested that January might be a better time.
4.7 Supervisor’s events
There were some updates sent from Jacky and Gerard regarding this event. It will take place hopefully in mid April, at either Hatton Garden or the Brunei Gallery. It will be an all-day event, aimed at Senior Library Assistant level. It will cover topics such as networking, reflective practice and new ways of learning. A possible timetable for the day has also been drafted, however speakers have yet to be arranged. During the meeting it was agreed that Judith, Claire and Val would facilitate one of the workshops each.
4.8 Visits
A note was passed on from Sarah regarding the schools libraries visits she is organising. Westminster School have agreed that they would take a visit of between 4 and 24 people for an hour; Sarah is waiting to confirm a date with the school. Sarah is also awaiting a response from London Academy.
Kew Gardens are taking longer than anticipated with their alterations, so a visit is unlikely this year. Sarah will contact them in May regarding a possible visit in October.
The date for the law libraries visit was discussed by the group, and it was thought that sometime in February would be suitable. This information will be passed on to Gerard who will then go about organising the visit.
Jackie is still to arrange the visit to the Stanley Kubrick archive.
