Minutes of the Personal Effectiveness & Management Task Group
Held on 24th May 2005 at 3pm
University of Westminster

Present: Judith Cattermole (Chair), Val Straw, Elaine Salter, Donald Lickley Jacky Camroux, Jo Butler & Dave Puplett (administrator) 1.      Apologies

Beverley Lightley, Maggie Fieldhouse and Sara Burnett.

2.    Minutes of the last meeting – 3rd March 2005

One change suggested by Jacky to report on Negotiation Skills. Dave to update.

3.    Matters arising

Jo Butler introduced as replacement for David Ward.
Dave Puplett introduced as new administrator, taking over from Sasha.

4.     Programme 2004/2005

•    Emotional Intelligence
Ash Charlton ran this event at Royal Holloway, Bedford Square on the 12th May 2005. Jacky attended, and reported that it was excellent. Access to the building was an issue, due to some confusion in the literature sent out to delegates. Cpd25 unlikely to use the same venue again.

•    Breakfast Briefing – Leadership (23 June 05) To be held at King’s by Gareth Edwards from The Leadership Trust.
Dave to advertise immediately, places to be reserved for Jacky Elaine and Judith, subject to confirmation.

•    24/7 Conference
This event was held at Etc Venues, Hatton Centre on the 26th April 2005.  Over 90 delegates attended, from across the UK. The event was a tremendous success, with very positive feedback from delegates. The venue was very popular and justified the expense spent. Those who helped will not be charged for the event, as it was due to make a healthy overall profit.
The roles of Sasha Poulter and Caroline Holebrook were acknowledged in the success of this event.

On the downside, the Q&A session at the end of the day was not very successful, and in future it was agreed more time should be provided for questions at the end of each speakers’ presentations.

          Visits
•    National Art Library, Victoria & Albert Museum
This visit took place on the 23rd May 2005. Val attended, and informed the group that it was a very good visit. It was noted that a repeat visit should have a warning that the visit is not ideal for those with mobility problems.

•    National Archive, Kew on 16th June 2005.
Dave to advertise shortly. A short discussion took place about the problem of people booking visits before they had been properly advertised, leaving only a few places open when the advert actually goes out. Dave to investigate solutions.
Dave will be attending this visit, Judith is unavailable.

6.      Remit of Group

As requested by the Steering Group, the Task group assessed their remit, as described on cpd25.ac.uk
The group agreed that the wording should be changed slightly to:

The task group will cover all areas of professional effectiveness and management, including…..

Dave to update the page.

7.    Any other business

Dave mentioned that the cpd25 webpage would be hosting all of the minutes from now on, and that some changes to the booking system would take place over the summer.

Elaine reported back that she has been following a course on Leadership. This was at level 4, and was going very well. The University of Westminster has been supporting her through this. Judith wished Elaine good luck in the rest of the course on behalf of the group.
