Meeting of the cpd25 Personal Effectiveness and Management Task Group 4 Friday, 29th January 2010, 11am, LSE Library
In attendance: Florence Achen-Owor, Sally Brock, Sara Burnett, Judith Cattermole, Sally Faith, Claire Hackshall, Claire Jeffery, Donald Lickley, Gerard Power, Val Straw.
1. Apologies: Apologies were received from Karen Ellis-Rees.
2. Minutes of the last meeting: Accepted as an accurate record.
3. Matters arising: The Chair thanked DL for his hard work as a member of Task Group 4 and wished him well for the future. The Group welcomed SB to the Group as his successor.
4. Review of the programme for 2009-10
4.1 Leadership Development: lessons for aspiring leaders [3rd (all day), 15th (pm only) and 23rd (pm only) February 2010]
JC and CH reported that this had been extremely popular and all places on this programme had been booked up within a few days of advertising it.
4.2 Negotiating & Influencing [2nd March 2010] DL reported that SB has now taken over the organising of this event due to his imminent departure from KCL.
4.3 Time Management [25th March 2010] JC reported that the plans for this event were proceeding well.
4.4 Emotional Intelligence [17th June 2010] JC reported that the plans for this event were proceeding well.
4.5 Coping at the Counter (1/2 day) [9th December 2009 & 31st March 2010] and Coping Even Better (1 day) [17th March 2010 & 6th May 2010] CH reported that the 9th December Coping at the Counter event had gone very well.
4.6 Transferable Skills [11th March 2010] SF reported that this event would be run on 11th March and would deal with the subject of ‘re-assessing yourself and your skills’. It was agreed that this would be a whole-day event. DL said that he would send SF some background information he has on this topic to assist with writing the advert and it was agreed that SF would circulate the final advert to members of the group before it was formally advertised.
4.7 Senior Library Assistants Conference [30th April 2010] SB, CJ and FAO reported that they had had a planning meeting before Christmas for this event and now had all the speakers in place. Four visits were to be run as part of the conference and these were currently being finalised. GP volunteered to help escort one of these visits.
4.8 Libraries Don’t Need Marketing [12th February 2009] VS reported that plans for this event were going well and that it would be run on 12th February.
4.9 Using Social Media To Extend Your Website’s Reach [11th February 2010] GP reported that the first trainer he had booked to run this course had had to cancel but that he had now booked another trainer who would cover the same content.
4.10 Managing Budgets [20th November 2009] SF reported that she had run another Managing Budgets event on 20 November and that this had gone very well.
4.11 Visit to the House of Commons [17th February 2010] DL reported that this visit had proved to be extremely popular and that ten people would be attending this visit on 17th February.
4.12 Visit to SB reported that this visit had gone very well and that feedback afterwards had been very good.
4.13 Visit to SB confirmed that this visit would be going ahead as planned on 7th May.
4.14 Visit to Kubrick Archive [14th June 2010] CH reported that the December Kubrick Archive visit had gone very well and that KER had organised another visit for 14th June 2010.
