4.2 Emotional Intelligence

It was reported that all the arrangements were in place for this course which will be taking place on 11 June 2009

4.3    Senior Library Assistant’s day

JCamroux and GP reported that this went extremely well, although they felt that they were slightly ambitious with regard to attendance numbers and also felt that more time was actually needed during the day

4.4 New Managers Series

JC (Chair) reported that this event was less popular than usual i.e. there had been fewer bookings, but that the feedback was very good.

  1. Planning the programme for 2009-10

5.1 Leadership Journey

JC (Chair) suggested that the above could be run either as a series or as a two-day programme, instead of running a new managers course. The Group discussed possibly incorporating material into this to cover moving from a specialist job into management plus motivation and negotiation skills.  The Group discussed possible names of professional trainers for an event of this nature

5.2 Time Management

JC (Chair) agreed to organise a one-day Time Management course in February 2010

5.3 Emotional Intelligence

The Group agreed to run this again . JC(Chair) to organise.

5.4 Coping at the Counter (1/2 day) and Coping Even Better (1 day)

JCamroux agreed to organise these events. It was agreed that the former one would be run in December 2009 and March 2010, and the latter one in January and April 2010

5.5 Networking

DL agreed to organise a half-day networking event that could be run as both a stand alone event and as part of the above (5.1) Leadership Journey Series. This event would also cover influencing skills

            5.6 Transferable Skills

SB agreed to look into this as a possible event

5.7 Senior Library Assistants Conference

CJ, SB and FAO agreed to organise this, with GP being happy to advise as necessary. The Group discussed possibly running less workshops next time and using a bigger venue to further facilitate the networking experience. This year’s venue was thought to be poor regarding AV arrangements and lunch was also slow. The group discussed varying the visits next year, in order to attract the same audience as well as new ones.  A possible venue that was discussed was Oxford

5.8 Marketing

VS agreed to look into running a marketing event, date and length to be confirmed, but possibly for November 2009

5.9 Writing for the Web & Journals

GP agreed to organise a half-day event on this in late January 2010

5.10 Visit to the House of Commons

DL reported that he had been told that they don’t do tours, only open days and he agreed to organise one of these for February/March 2010
