About the Professional Qualifications Support Workshops

The cpd25 Professional Qualifications Support Workshops have been designed with a dual focus:

1. To provide training for Information Staff who are considering, or who already are, working for the CILIP Aclip or CILIP Chartership qualifications.

2. To provide useful, individual, training workshops for Information and Library Assistants and those at the early stages of their professional careers.

In the case of those undertaking/seeking Certification or Chartership, this popular series of ten, two-hour, workshops provides a year's worth of support and additional training. The topic of each workshop has been carefully chosen in order to stretch candidates and to provide some of the wider experience and skill sets necessary for them to achieve their qualification. In particular, the October workshop session will give ACLIP and Chartership candidates a very useful introduction to both types of CILIP qualification - and it is a great opportunity to discover what Certification and/or Chartership could do for your career and professional development. The March workshop session will focus on how to create a portfolio for either qualification and will discuss the CILIP's criteria in detail and give examples of best practice. Previous participants who have attended the entire programme, have commented on how much they benefited from the diversity of topics covered and the cumulative support - as well the opportunities for networking - offered by the series.

In the case of those not necessarily seeking Certification or Chartership, the variety of topics covered by the ten workshops means that many of the events can be viewed as suitable training opportunities for a range of staff - from experienced Library Assistants to Senior Information Assistants, as well as those working within their first professional roles. Learning - in a short and focused training session of two hours - about topics such 'Marketing and Communications', 'Collection Development', 'Developing a Service', 'Supervisory Skills', 'Financial Planning', 'Customer Care', 'Copyright' and 'Supporting our Users' should be of interest to a range of library and information staff.
