Meeting of the cpd25 Quality Standards and Legal Frameworks Task Group 11th March 2008, 10.00, School of Pharmacy In attendance: Michelle Wake (Chair), Robert Atkinson, Louise Hughes, Matthew Lawson, Vicky Robertson, Kristy Widdicombe Note: Tony Haworth has stepped down from the group and Diana Watt has temporarily suspended her membership. New members Vicky, Matthew and Louise were welcomed to the group. 1. Minutes: The minutes for 6th September 2008 meeting were accepted as accurate. 2. Review of Events:Institute of Contemporary History and Wiener Library visit (6.12.07). Robert organised and attended this visit on which a tour of the library and outline of the collections history was given. It was very well received and fully booked. Bronzefield Prison visit (13.12.07). Michelle and Suzy attended. Sibylla Parkhill was a great host. The visit was oversubscribed, positively received and could run again. 3. Forthcoming Events: Disability Events. Kristy submitted an outline of two events based on the findings of the Diversity session held in August 2007. Both sessions will run as half day events in the morning as delegates at the previous event suggested this as a good time. Focus on Disability 1: Assistive technology (5.6.08)Speakers: Sally Cooke at TechDis, Linda Robertson (Southampton) and Ruth Harris (Oxford). Matthew agreed to organise a room at King’s London Bridge campus.Focus on Disability 2: Providing support for disabled users: case studies (19.06.08) Speakers: Deb Viney (SOAS), Richard Gray (Queen Mary) and Jo Taplin-Green (LSE). Legal Research Skills (TBC) – Robert has organised this half day session to take place in October or November 2008. It was originally planned to undertake this in March 2008, but due to the commitments of our facilitator, Gerry Power, and pressure on room bookings at Birkbeck it has been necessary to re-schedule. Copyright (TBC) Michelle will take over the lead on this half day event. The plan is to focus on copyright in relation to electronic and image material. Retirement / Pensions (May / June TBC) Robert is currently determining the scope of Diversity (TBC) Vicky agreed to take over the lead on this half day event, with case studies in addition to an existing presentation produced by the University of Westminster. Visit to the National Archives at Kew (TBC). Matthew to lead. Visit to Wandsworth Prison (TBC). Louise to lead and Robert will pass on details of who to contact. It will be a small group visit and the time to process the security documents associated with such a visit will need to be considered during the planning of the visit. 3. CPD25 in a Changing World Michelle collated the group’s comments regarding the cpd25 Chair’s discussion paper. A report will be presented to the Steering Group on the 13th March. 4. A.O.B TG2 has traditionally met twice a year, however following the turnover of membership in 2007/08 the group has decided to meet three times a year for the foreseeable future.
