4. 2005/6 Programme

Seminars:

Copyright Day - 10th Jan, Caroline.
Really well recieved day, excellent venue. Caroline noted there was no speaker from CLA due to clashing diaries, but that they would be happy to send a representative to any future events. Annick Ireland from the British Library also expressed her willingness to speak at future cpd25 events.

Health and Safety Law - 13th Jan, Hilary
Very good content from JSB. Good feedback too. The day was expensive to run, but successful overall.

Legal Research Skills - 6th March, Gerry
Good feedback, but numbers slightly down on previous years at 6 people. Still financially viable, however.

Disability Law Update - 4th April, Ruth
Highly successful day. Very intereactive, and Wendy an excellent trainer. RCOG venue used again; great facilities.

Visits

Royal Society of Medicine, Oct
Two fully booked and very popular visits.

Scotland Yard, Jan
Again, fully booked very quickly and very good feedback from those who attended.

London Library, May
Fully booked, Dave to attend

5. Programme 06/07

Seminars:

Records Management and Freedom of Information, Tony and Nick, November
Likely to be full day: VLE's - Retention Issues, Records Management for Librarians, Freedom of Infomation issues.

Human Resource Management, Hilary, January
Possibly run by JSB / similar. Smaller size group for discussion rather than a seminar.

Shibboleth / Access Seminar, Robert and Ruth, February
Robert to use Birkbeck connections to approach John Paschoud to speak. A balance is to be sought to prevent the event being too technical.

Legal Research Skills – Gerry, March
To be run as in previous years at Birkbeck.

Benchmarking/Standards/Chartermark (possibly Hilary)
This is a suggestion from M25 quality group, Caroline to consult them about the direction they would like to take this.

The User Resources Task Group wil be running a conference on Implementing New Technologies, and would like this group to assist with a session on VLE's. David Crook or Jane Secker could be potential speakers. To be followed up after TG5 have met again.

Visits

Natural History Museum - Robert, Oct/Nov

House of Lords - Ruth, Nov/Dec
Ruth to investigate trying to get into the House of Commons library.

Prison (not Broadmoor, possibly Wormwood Scrubs, Gerry, February

Tate Britain and Modern - Caroline and Dave, June

6. Frequency of Meetings

The group ageed to continue meeting in May and September. Dave offered the use of space at Westminster if any members of the group wished to meet outside of these main meetings.

It was also agreed that numbers were fine in the group, but if any new volunteers come along, we could easily integrate them into the group.

7. Any other business

Dave reported that the cpd25 website is up and running, and asked the group to check their details and to point out any mistakes.

Caroline reminded the group that cpd25 has a repository for staff development documents, and that any contributions would be welcome. All documents should be sent to Dave to be added.

Caroline also mentioned the Exchange scheme that cpd25 have organised. This wil be launched in the Autumn to Staff Development Officers, and involves cpd25 maintaining a list of institutions willing to partake inan exchange. This will be limited to Chartership candidates to begin with.
