Minutes of the cpd25 Quality Standards and Legal Frameworks Task Group 2 Tuesday, 21st February 2012 Room 153, Birkbeck College
Present: Robert Atkinson (Chair), Adjoa Boateng, Claire Hackshall (Administrator), Phillipa Hatch and Matthew Lawson.
1. Apologies and resignations Susan Howard, Vicky Robertson and Kristy Widdicombe sent their apologies. RA reported that Sian Blake had had to resign for work reasons and thanked her for her work with the group.
2. Minutes of the meeting of 15th December 2011 Accepted as an accurate record.
3. Review of training events and visits for 2011-12 – where we are
3.1 Employment Law RA reported that this event is to take place on 26th April.
3.2 Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics ML reported that this event would be taking place in May and gave the group a detailed report on how this was going work.
3.3 Copyright ML reported that this event was in the pipeline and would run either in June or October. PH and AB offered to help organise this event with ML.
3.4 Customer Care This event had been run by VR on 10th February and had gone well.
3.5 Value for money/Impact RA reported that he was liaising with a colleague on this event, with a view to running it in early July.
3.6 Changing your LMS SH was unable to attend the meeting and so an update for this event wasn’t available. PH and AB offered to help with the organising of this event.
3.7 The Equality Act RA reported that this event is due to run on 2nd May.
3.8 Assistive Technology/Making libraries more accessible/Maternity leave for students and employment law/Keeping in touch during maternity leave VR and KW were unable to attend the meeting and so updates for these two events were not available.
3.9 Visit to the library of one of the Inns of Court RA reported that he hadn’t been able to get any further with organising this visit just yet.
3.10 Prison Library visit No update was available for this visit.
3.11 Visit to Middlesex University Library ML reported that due to building work this visit wouldn’t be able to take place this year.
3.12 Visit to the Wiener Library RA hoped to organise this visit very soon.
3.13 Visit to the Ministry of Justice CH reported that this visit had taken place on 17th January and had been fully booked.
3.14 Visit to the London Library No progress had been made with this visit yet.
3.15 Visit to City University Library This library had had building works recently but ML said he would try them again shortly.
3.16 Visit to the Royal Courts of Justice This visit would be taking place on 8th March and was fully booked with a long waiting list.
4. AOB RA discussed further with the group the CILIP Update column and asked them to think about writing one of the articles.
5. Date of next meeting It was agreed that this would be held on Tuesday, 17th April at 10.00am at Birkbeck. N.B. Subsequent to the meeting the time was changed to 2.30pm. |
