5.2 Employment Law RA reported that 15th April has now been set as the date for this event. A venue would be booked as soon as he has more details from the trainer e.g. the number of delegates that he can take, and that he would be meeting him shortly to do this. RA mentioned that he needed to obtain copies of contracts for specific types of jobs and that this was proving difficult.
5.3 Basic Copyright ML reported that he had met with RH recently in order to progress this event and would be doing again very soon.
5.4 Managing Management Information ML explained that this course was aimed at understanding statistics, how they are collated and co-ordinated and how they are used. Programme plans were progressing well and ML was given the name of a possible speaker for this event by a member of the Group.
5.5 Quality Standards It was reported that some possible speakers for this event were currently being approached and the Group also suggested another possible speaker’s name.
5.6 Making Libraries More Accessible: Supporting Students with Mental Health Difficulties) KW reported that this event was set to take place on 19th March and that she was currently trying to get someone from the Samaritans to come along and speak at this.
5.7 Assistive Technology KW passed on the organising of this event to AP and VR, with the aim of running it in the Summer.
6. Review of visits

6.5 RA reported that he was very optimistic that this visit would be able to take place and was currently investigating this.
6.6 A LH reported that it was now more likely to be a visit to either Wormwood Scrubs or Pentonville Library in May, rather than Wandsworth Prison and that it looked likely that two visits could be organised with six people in each group. She hoped to have further details on these shortly.
6.7 The Law Society ML reported that the Law Society had told him that they were not open to visits from outside people and so this visit would have to be taken off the programme.

6.10 Imperial RH wasn’t able to attend the meeting and so an update on this visit wasn’t available.
7. Any other business
7.1 VR suggested that it might be a good idea to have a central cpd25 Excel sheet giving the details of trainers that are used regularly. RA agreed to mention this idea at the next Steering Group Meeting.
7.2 AP said that a visit to a political party, NGO or a ‘think-tank’ library would be very interesting for library staff and that she would carry out some research into this.
8. Date of next meeting It was agreed that the group would next meet on Thursday, 29th April 2010 at 2.30pm and that RA would book a meeting room at Birkbeck for this.
