Minutes of the CPD25 Statutory Requirements & Legal Compliance Task Group held on 30th September 2005 at 2pm, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

Present: Jennifer Nordon, (Chair), Robert Atkinson, Caroline Lloyd, Ruth Harrison, Hilary Webb & Dave Puplett (administrator)

1. Apologies

Apologies had been received from Gerry Power and Nick Hollis;

Karen Ellis-Rees, Christine Cooper and Tim Davies have left the group.

Jennifer Nordon is stepping down from the group as she has taken voluntary severance from University of Surrey. Caroline Lloyd will replace her as chair of the group, whilst Hilary Webb from Surrey will be joining.

2. Minutes of the last meeting

Spelling of Jane Secker to be changed.

All matters are included in the agenda

4. 2004/5 Programme

Seminars

1. ???? Mental Health Awareness

Dave attended, this was a success, with good numbers attending and positive feedback received.

Visits

1. ???? Laban Dance Centre

Dave attended, very popular and interesting visit. Could be repeated in the future.

5. Programme 05/06

Visits

Royal society of Medicine – Ruth

One visit has already been advertised in October and filled up very quickly. Ruth is working on a follow up visit to try and satisfy some of the demand.

London Library – Robert

A visit has been booked for May, for 12 people. Dave to advertise closer to the time.

Scotland Yard - Ruth

A visit is agreed in principle, Ruth to arrange dates in either January of April.

Copyright events to be merged in to an all day event in January.

Likely to have 3/4 speakers, running 10-4.

AM - Repositories

VLE’s

PM – Scanning Licence

Caroline to further investigate speakers.

Health and Safety – JSB

This event will be expensive but this has been cleared by Jean Yeoh.

Hilary to assume responsibility after Jennifer leaves.

Will run 9.00 - 4.30, for 12-15 people.

The content could be a little dry, Jennifer/Hilary to clarify JSB that delegates will need the opportunity to feedback and discuss practical issues.

Legal Research Skills – Gerry

Dave has contacted Robert about booking the IT room at Birkbeck for March

No word back from Anne Poulson.

Ruth and Robert to follow up potential leads on speakers. Likely to be run in April

6. Any other business

Jennifer is leaving at the end of December. Robert lead the group in expressing their thanks for her contribution to the group.

12th May 2006 – Robert to book a room at Birkbeck.
