As ML had sent his apologies for the meeting it wasn’t possible to get an update for this event. RA agreed to contact ML to find out how both his events were coming along.

3.4 Assistive Technology/Accessibility and VLEs

AP reported that she would now be organising this event on her own, with VR taking on the organising of the ‘Making Libraries More Accessible’ event on her own. AP reported that she just needed to get a date finalised for this event and is looking at April/May. Most of the programme is now organised.

3.5 Making Libraries More Accessible

RA reported that VR was considering changing the title of this event to ‘Assistive Technology for Visually Impaired People’ and that she had several speakers lined up for it.

3.6 Data Protection

4. Review of visits – where we are

4.1 London Library

RA reported that this just needs a date and then this visit can be run.

4.2 Imperial College

CH reported that this visit took place on the 6th December and was so popular that ML has arranged another one for 26th January 2011.

4.3 Freemasons Library

RA reported that VR is currently awaiting confirmation of a date for this visit.

4.4 City University

No update was available for this visit as ML was unable to attend the meeting..

4.5 Lincoln’s Inn Library

RA reported that this visit had taken place on 24th November and had been fascinating.

4.6 Commercial Law Firm Library

No update was available for this visit as SB was unable to attend the meeting.

4.7 Metropolitan Archives

AP reported that this visit had taken place on 12th November and as a result of this she had more ideas on future visits in this area.

4.8 School of Pharmacy

CH reported that this visit had been advertised for 14th December but the take-up rate had been very low possibly due to its proximity to the Christmas holidays. It was agreed that it would be best to re-schedule this visit for another date next term.

5. AOB

AP suggested that during the next academic year an event on shared services could be run by the group, as long as a legal/employment angle could be taken for this. It was agreed that the membership level of the group was currently ok but that this would be reviewed next summer.

6. Date of next meeting

It was agreed that this would be held on 9th February 2011 and that RA would send an email after the meeting to all the members of the group giving this date.
