Events in planning for 2011-12: Many of the events we have planned for 2011-12 are still at the planning stage and will take place in 2012. I will hope to have a clearer picture of where we are with the planning after our next meeting on 15th December. Some of the events that I have more detail about are: * Standards – Customer Excellence Framework, Investors in People and Customer First
o Vicky Robertson has arranged two speakers for this
event – Claire Jeffrey and Jo Aitken from Leicester.
* Value for Money/Impact
o I have spoken to Philip Payne, who has an interest in
this area and good contacts. Philip has suggested an interesting looking
programme involving Dave Pattern from Huddersfield and David Streatfield who is
an independent consultant. It would be an interactive programme and is likely
to run in July 2012. Visits that have taken place in 2011-12: * Wellcome Library (25/11/11) o The visit included a tour of the Library and archives. * National Archives (1/12/11) o Included a “new to Kew” drop in session aimed at new visitors to the Archives, which describes to them the full range of services available and a tour. Forthcoming visits: * RNIB Research Library (12/12/11) o A tour of the Library, which is Europe's largest, most comprehensive and diverse collection of print and electronic materials covering all aspects of partial sight and blindness. * Ministry of Justice Library (17/1/12) o This visit will cover a tour of the Ministry of Justice Library, and talks from Ministry of Justice librarians about their careers in government libraries. For a full list of training events and visits organised by Task Group 2 for 2011-12 please see attached sheet. Robert Atkinson 5th December 2011. |
