Membership The membership of the group has not changed since the last Steering Group Meeting Meetings of Task Group 4 The Group met on 15 February 2011 at the LSE and is expected to next meet on 19 May 2011. Proposed Events for 2010/2011 The proposed programme is documented on the attached sheet. Unfortunately we have received no direct feedback from the evaluation forms other than where indicted so do not really know how successful the completed courses have been. Leadership Development The series was run by Beryl Morris over three days and was fully booked despite limiting the numbers from the same institution.
Influencing & Persuading Course ran on 3 March Time Management Course due to run on 30 March -delivered by Ash Charlton - and had 11 bookings at the last count. Emotional Intelligence This course will be delivered by Ash Charlton on 15 June. One booking already received. Event for SLA None of the group members involved in this event attended the previous meeting so we await further information Libraries are for Learning? Managing Student Behaviour in the 21st Century. Scheduled for 12 May, the course will concentrate on understanding behaviour patterns & how best to manage them. There will be a morning training session delivered by Ash Charlton who will facilitate the day. This will be followed by a couple of speakers sharing short experience presentations & the day will conclude with a workshop to include the speakers. This format will also be used for the following events: Managing Change Workshop (Title to be considered) At least 18 people were due to attend this event on 24 February. We await feedback. Focus Groups Workshop After some time investment, it became apparent that Group 5 were also running an event on this topic. We have there discontinued our own arrangements. Managing Budgets Delivered with positive feedback. Used as example for the Cilip accreditation submission. Marketing Yourself: Transferrable Skills A freshened up version of last years well received course to be delivered 5 May by Erica Sosna of The Life Project New Managers’ Toolkit This year we will be trying a slightly different approach to this programme with a two day series comprising an introduction to Management from Beryl Morris & a day of Coaching Skills / Getting the best from a team delivered by Erica Sosna from The Life Project. Unfortunately, despite best efforts to freshen up the course and to advertise we are struggling to find attendees for this course. The course is due to run on 5 and 15 April. Making the Most of Meetings Having rested our ‘Managing Meetings’ training for a couple of years, we are looking to invite Erica Sosna to deliver a ½ or 1 day course which will be designed to ensure that all those interminable meetings become a more productive & a better use of time. We will be aiming this more at supervisors & above but it will not be exclusive. Visits Kew - due on 6 May Surrey - took place on 22 Feb Sussex – pending completion of the refurbishment Kubrick Archive – 11 Apr House of Commons – took place on 23 February.
