Career Development Task Group |

Themes:
The Career Development Group provides training and development aimed, in particular, at librarians and information professionals in the early stages of their career. The task group will keep a watching brief on the CILIP Framework of Qualifications and provide training to support and complement these qualifications. The group is responsible for an annual programme of workshops which is specifically designed for those studying for the CILIP Chartership and ACLIP qualifications, but which is also of more general application. The group will also focus on topics such as career pathways, succession planning, training for staff such as library assistants (links to NVQ and other schemes), job application and interview skills and training for Staff Development Officers

Themes
The task group aims to provide training, networking and other staff development opportunities for staff in libraries in areas of generic interest i.e. not specific to library work. The opportunities offered will encompass aspects of personal development as well as management and business skills training. Examples of areas that may be covered include: transferable skills, change management, managing customer behaviour, cultural awareness, budget management, supervisory/management skills.
