4. Reports of Visits & Seminars
Visits
•    British Library 22 February
This was fully booked. Sasha & Sam attended the visit but not the tour. The visit was very informative but a lot of information was put into the half day so it was suggested that it should be a whole day event and Paul would be happy to run the event next year.
    Action: Sasha to send Janet handouts received from the Visit.
Seminars
•    Enquiry
Problem with Self promotion of the speakers, all the speakers were very different which provoked responses but hopefully there was something for everyone. Goretti Considine was very good – only one who did not use PowerPoint!
•    Managing Self Issue – 7 Feb 05
Venue was really nice (used Boardroom at LCC) & Event was received very well. Covered different aspects of Self Issue and implementation. This was fully booked with 30 delegates.
5. Template for Reporting
It was agreed for organisers to do feedback report on each event. The Organiser will need a detailed programme after the event and it needs to be sent to Janet  1 week after the event and copy to Task group members. Purpose of this is to enable Janet to be able to report back to the Steering group.
Action: Janet to amend feedback sheet with comments on the venue details and circulate to group.
6. Events in progress
•    Planning Teaching Sessions – 18 March 05
This event is fully booked with 15 delegates. Gwyneth Price is speaking from the Institute of Education.
•    Customer Care
Sally has arranged with Beryl Morris from Hudson Rivers to deliver this on 27 June 05 at Brunei Gallery
Action: Sasha to do budget
•    One off Teaching – 18 April 05
Sam is organising this as reported that it is going well. It is fully booked with 15 delegates. Alison Ahearn has sent out a Programme and is working on a workshop booklet.
Action: Sam to send Sasha the programme & Sasha to email it out to delegates and put on web.
•    Lecturing to Large Groups – 20 May 05 9-1, Sharon Markless
This is fully booked and will be held at Brunei Gallery
Action: Sasha to email delegates with date. Rachel to send programme to Sasha.
•    Marketing a Library Service ( Internal Marketing) – 27 May 05
To be held at Guildhall Lecture Theatre & to include a tour of the City Business Library. Looking for Chair for the event Mary Nixon/ Debbie Boden?
Action: to send the programme to administrator. Administrator to advertise event and update web. Jane to check about facilities available and inform administrator.
•    Small Groups – 7 June 05 2-5pm Brunei Gallery. Workshop to be facilitated by Martin Scarrott. Fully booked with 15 delegates.
•    International Users ¬– June 05
This is still in the development stages, thought about angle of Chinese students, different learning environments, African students?
Action: To finalise programme and inform administrator of programme & dates so a venue can be arranged and also the event advertised.
•    Assessment & Certification – no date yet and programme still be developed. Eilis raised issue that title may be misleading it was decided to change this to Accreditation & Certification.
Action: Sasha to change this on the Web and to email out short message drafted by Janet. Sasha to also update web with full title of seminars for the Learn & Teach Series.Kathy to finalise programme and dates and forward to Sasha/Administrator.
•    Induction for Students – July 05
Rachel is working on this and was going to get someone to talk about innovative ways they have used for inducting students e.g. Cardiff & LSE. We talked about using WebCT, also Birkbeck had online induction. Toby mentioned an article in Sconul Newsletter that he would dig out and send details to Task group members.
•    Teaching with Electronic Devices has been put on the back burner for next year.
7. Group Membership
•    Sam leaving in May
•    Sally steps down
•    Thanks to both Sam & Sally for all their hard work and contributions to the group.
•    It was discussed that people found it useful to work in pairs and so the work would be allocated like that except where people would prefer to work alone.
•    Checklist for planning events to be sent out to task group members.
•    Administrator to thank speakers.
