Meeting of the cpd25 User Resources and Services Task Group In attendance: Janet Smith (Chair), Karen Drury, Helen Alper, Antonella Yarnold, Eilis Rafferty, Craigie-Lee Paterson, Suzy Ball (Administrator). Apologies: Jennifer Treherne, Pat Simons, June Hedges Note: Jane Rosen will return to the group in September and Craigie-Lee Paterson was welcomed to the group. 1. Minutes of last meeting: Accepted as an accurate record. 2. Events 2007/8: 25th April: Customer Care in a Self-Service Environment (KD). This fully booked event went well. The feedback suggested that all the speakers were positively received and the event involved a good contrast of approaches. 15th May: Metadata (PS). The event was fully booked and had a good structure. There were some problems with the venue and it will not be used in the future. 26th June: Approaches to Inductions (AY/ER). All arrangements are in place and Rowena Macrae-Gibson, from LSE, has agreed to chair. Visit to the Wellcome Library (JS). This was a successful visit. Several members of staff gave generously of their time and the visit was thoughtfully organised and entertaining 24th June: Visit to Oxford Libraries (JH). 17 places have been booked so far. 3. Planning for 2008/9: [JS had produced an informal paper for the group outlining capacity for events and highlighting priorities in terms of audience and the list of events resulting from the planning afternoon] Conference on the Future of Academic Libraries. Ideally six task group members will work on this and should aim for a date in April 2009. EP to arrange a date for an initial meeting to allocate responsibilities and define the approach to be taken. Resource Discovery. C-LP & JT to liaise with John Gilby in order to arrange two half day events. NHS / HE Partnership Launch. Cpd25 will administer the event and JS & HA will work with the partnership. Collaborative software for liaison librarians. JS & HA will work on producing a half day event, possibly with a health libraries perspective, for February – March. Visits RFID at the University of East London. C-LP to arrange. Reading University. KD to arrange a visit to encompass their range of archives and special collections. Next meeting: 10th September 2008, 2.30pm, Queen Mary, UoL |
