Meeting of cpd25 Task Group 5: User Resources & Services 18th September 2009, 2.30pm Goldsmiths Library
In attendance: Helen Alper, Claire Hackshall, Craigie-Lee Paterson, Pat Simons.
1. Apologies: Simon Collins, Karen Drury, June Hedges, Grainne MacDermott, Jane Rosen, Eilis Rafferty, Jennifer Treherne, Antonella Yarnold
2. Resignations/new members: ER resigned from the Group and was thanked for all her hard work.
3. Minutes of the previous meeting: Accepted as an accurate record.
4. Matters arising N/A
5. Programme for 2009-10
5.1 Roving with a Purpose & Self-Service PS reported that work is proceeding well with this whole-day event and that it will take place next May.
5.2 Information Skills for Library Staff PS reported that this half-day event would be run in March/April and that she has several speakers for this already.
5.3 One Stop Shop PS reported that she is starting to organise this for next June and has been in contact with several possible speakers. The venue would probably be Kingston University.
5.4 Collaborative Software CLP agreed to organise this course at Goldsmiths in early December.
5.5 An event for Systems Librarians CLP agreed to organise an event for Systems Librarians next February.
5.6 Visit to an Art Library A possible visit to an Art Library was discussed.
5.7 Visit to the Sherlock Holmes Exhibition at Westminster Library & Archives HA agreed to organise a visit in November/December to the Sherlock Holmes Exhibition at the Westminster Library & Archives.
5.8 Visit to Special Collections at Kingston University SC sent an email update to the meeting re the above visit, saying that it is proceeding well.
5.9 Visit to Government Library/PRO A possible visit to a Government Library/PRO was discussed.
5.10 Visit to University of Sussex – special collections to support teaching GM had sent her apologies so there was no update available on this visit.
5.11 Visit to special collections at Reading University KD is organising this event and as she will be on maternity leave from January she will leave all the contact details with the Group before this.
6. Any other business: It was noted that only a small proportion of Task Group members were able to be present at the meeting and some discussion took place concerning the current economic climate and whether members might be under such pressure with their work that they were unable to attend Task Group meetings or organise cpd25 events. HA agreed to email the Task Group to establish if this might be the case.
7. Date of next meeting: It was agreed that the group should next meet in early December and CH agreed to circulate some suitable dates/times for this. The venue would be the LSE Library and CH also agreed to book a table for Christmas lunch at a nearby restaurant on the same date.
